ABOUT

NOWLAN was created to empower women through what they wear, whilst creating a space and community of women who feel connected in supporting each other. Women are celebrated for who they are, not just their appearance. Drawing inspiration from the rebellious spirit of the 1970s rock and roll scene and the fierce activism of the era, NOWLAN seeks to evoke this sense of liberation and empowerment. Infusing elements of countryside aesthetics, our inaugural collection proudly partners with the renowned British fabric mill, Harris Tweed®, weaving together tradition and rebellion to craft our own British heritage. We are proud to be creating a new generation of empowered female paving their own unique heritage.

Niamh Nowlan, was born and raised in Oxfordshire, growing up between the beautiful landscapes of the Cotswolds and the vibrant city life, taking weekend trips to London with her mum. Surrounded by strong, independent women from an early age, Niamh's upbringing profoundly influenced her dedication to advocating for women's rights. Her father, a devoted music enthusiast, instilled in her a deep appreciation for the cultural richness of the 1970s, a decade for her that brings great inspiration. Immersed in the realms of music, art, activism, and fashion from that transformative period, these continue to serve as inspiration for her today.

Key highlight for Niamh includes her collaboration with the Oxford University, Saïd Business School. Niamh participated in a merchandise competition set by the University in April 23' and went on to win, with her bespoke print. The print was created by playing around with the logo, leading her to overlap them. Painting the logo furthered the development. The final prints depicts the Oxford University logo overlapped, one larger scale and the other a smaller scale. The Oxford Saïd Business School X Niamh Nowlan bespoke print merchandise range launched May 24'.
