Sat in the cabaret dressing room post fashion show hosted at 8 Embankment as I am writing this. Whilst the auction murmurs on in the background for the This Is Icon charity gala raising vital funds for the children's charity, the NSPCC. This tucked away corner is quite the difference from just 20 minutes ago.
Rushing from the station toilets in my clean and pressed London Fashion Week outfit, I jumped onto the train straight to central London. Joining the 23 other designers for the This Is Icon charity fashion show. NOWLAN showed our Harris Tweed cropped jacket and palazzo style trousers. With model Giselle powerfully wearing the look with her bold red hair, twisted back carrying the look. Each designers looks where just as unique a mix of fine crochet work to textile pieces to avant guard it was quite the speciticle. With models walking down the main staircase onto the stage around the ground floor tables and then back around to the stage and up the stairs. Each look certainly had its moment and with varying looks guests were interested to see what was next. With the fashion show in collaboration with the Jimmy Choo Academy this is a promising start to the new season with students heading back to the academy at the beginning of October.
NOWLAN Look One From The Debut Collection
Guests of the charity gala included Leigh Francis, or more famously known as the fictional character Keith Lemon. Dressed in a black suit and trousers paid with a blue open shirt, with its oversized collar draping down. This look was paired with a bold statement hat that could not be missed. Francis, was being recognised for his contributions to entertainment and TV. Alongside Denise Ohnona, although you might recognise her as the Kate Moss look alike who stormed the Marine Serre runway at the most recent Paris Fashion Week. Naomi Harris also graciously presented one of the This Is Icon awards.
A Sample Of The JCA Students Designs
Alongside the runway the night included an array of Icon awards, silent auction and main stage auction with funds raised for the NSPCC. With A David Bailey Polaroid, various holidays and signed madness photograph up for auction all raising between £1000 - £3000 each, not mention the currently uncounted silent action funds.
This Is Icon was the perfect beginning to fashion week for myself sparking inspiration for looks and excited for what's next to come over the weekend, supporting new designers and seasoned designers.
