Please introduce yourself and your business.

I’m Lisa Franklin, skincare expert, product developer and nutritionist. My brand is known for providing products and treatments that target and transform the entire facial landscape to provide what has become my signature glow.

How did you get into the industry you have chosen to start your business in?

I've always been passionate about skincare since I personally understood how it felt to be unconfident and uncomfortable in ones skin, having suffered with Rosacea. I searched for skin confidence, a feeling I never thought possible, I guess this was the catalyst to want to be part of this industry, initially training in nutrition, and later skincare and makeup.

I lived and breathed working with skin on a daily basis, but how could I turn this passion into something more, something that could help others like me. That pivotal moment came, a calling to make a product with a difference, a product that could reduce redness and blur away imperfections. This inspired me to start a brand that used scientific principles and meticulously researched product ingredients and cutting-edge treatment technology all backed by clinical studies to produce long-term healthy results.

Despite not knowing exactly how to proceed, I trusted my vision and plunged into the unknown.

What has been a career highlight for you?

A career highlight for me has been the moment when I saw the impact of my work positively affecting the lives of others. Whether it's seeing clients' skin transform and their confidence soar, or receiving recognition for my contributions to the industry, these moments reaffirm my passion and purpose in what I do.

Without a doubt, one of my proudest accomplishments was the creation of my very first product, the Luminescent Base which I touched upon in your earlier question. My brainchild, and my hero. It's more than just a cosmetic it's a confidence booster, a game-changer, and a source of empowerment.  To witness first hand the transformation it creates on the skin, including my own is beyond gratifying. The Luminescent Base has granted me that level of skin confidence I never dreamed possible.

What challenges have you faced as a female in business?

I’m lucky to work in a predominately women lead industry where our voices can’t be ignored. However, women do face challenges in this industry like others from gender bias. The figures make stark reading when you look at the disparity between female and male founded businesses when it comes to inward investment.

How would you describe your personal style when it comes to fashion?

A fusion of Bohemian and sharp tailoring. I gravitate towards free-spirited, eclectic pieces that exude a sense of individuality while also appreciating the structured lines and refined craftsmanship of tailoring.

Do you feel that what you choose to wear empowers you in business?

Absolutely. A unique style makes a memorable impression both in business and personal settings.

What piece of advice would you give to both a male and female counterpart in business to support and champion women?

My advice is to actively engage with the women in your business, there are so many incredible women out there, and by promoting inclusivity and providing opportunities for advancement, businesses will enable more women to realise their full potential which will only lead to positive outcomes when it comes to the success of any business.

What is the best piece of advice you have been given?

There are no guarantees only opportunities, if you stay resilient and determined.

As we reflect on Lisa Franklin's inspiring story, let us embrace her advice to seize opportunities, stay resilient, and actively promote inclusivity in our own spheres. Together, we can pave the way for a future where women's voices are heard and their contributions celebrated. As we navigate the complexities of the business world, Lisa's advice is never more true, embrace opportunities, stay resilient, and actively engage in promoting inclusivity.

A big thank you to Lisa for sharing her business insights and sharing her story founding Lisa Franklin skincare.

Autumn is officially here, as we say goodbye to sunny days and lighter evenings we look to the month ahead. Heading back to the hustle and bustle of daily life and work routines. Not forgetting this season is also filled with crispy maple-coloured leaves, cashmere jumpers all captured with a chill in the air and a hot chocolate in hand. Yet, as any fashion disciple knows this month in the fashion calendar is equally as electric as it is hectic.
